Digital Desk: The Assam government is embarking on an ambitious project with the establishment of the Kaziranga Orchid Park, aimed at enhancing tourism and conserving endangered orchid species in the state. Spearheaded by the Horticulture Department under the guidance of Agriculture Minister Atul Bora, the park is poised to become a significant addition to Kaziranga's vibrant tourism sector.

Minister Bora highlighted the park's dual purpose, stating, "The Kaziranga Orchid Park, being set up by the Horticulture Department of the Assam Government, is set to become a significant addition to Kaziranga's thriving tourism sector."

Assam boasts around 800 species of orchids, with 70 classified as endangered. The park intends not only to attract tourists but also to implement stringent measures for the preservation of these endangered species.

During a recent site visit to Kohora, Minister Bora assessed the construction progress and stressed the need for expedited completion.

"Today, I inspected the construction site at Kohora and assessed the progress of the work. I have already instructed the relevant Horticulture Department officials to expedite the completion of the construction," he added.

Expected to draw nature enthusiasts, botanists, and eco-tourists alike, the Kaziranga Orchid Park is poised to bolster the region's tourism industry significantly. Authorities are cooperating closely with local communities and stakeholders to ensure sustainable development and are planning educational programs to raise awareness about conservation efforts. This initiative underscores Assam's commitment to both tourism promotion and environmental conservation.
