Digital Desk: The ruling Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) launched a scathing attack on the Congress in the midst of a "carpet bombing" campaign in Gujarat. Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma took a jibe at Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who is busy with the Bharat Jodo Yatra ahead of the Gujarat assembly elections.

"Rahul Gandhi has a habit that I've been observing for days. He will be in Gujarat if a cricket match is being played in Guwahati. "He'll carry a bat and a pad in Gujarat as well; he'll keep getting ready but won't come on the field," CM Sarma said.

"He is in the south while the elections are in Gujarat; when the elections were in Himachal Pradesh, he was in Kerala. He doesn't want to leave the dressing room since he doesn't want to play," the Assam CM added.

Reportedly, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, who skipped the Himachal Pradesh election campaign, is planning a brief campaign trip for the Gujarat assembly elections, which begin on November 21.

While speaking at a rally in Kutch, CM Sarma also highlighted Gandhi's controversial remarks about VD Savarkar. The Congress leader, in CM Sarma's opinion, does not have a solid understanding of Indian history, as seen by the way he chose to portray Veer Savarkar.

He also accused Gandhi of being anti-Hindu and anti-national.

Rahul Gandhi understands nothing about Indian history, and his remarks for Veer Savarkar demonstrate his philosophy as anti-Hindu and anti-national, CM Sarma said.

Gujarat's 182-member legislative assembly will be elected in two parts on December 1 and 5. On December 8, the votes will be counted.
