The Himachal Roads Transport Corporation (HRTC) has suspended bus services on 82 of its 3,612 routes, as reported by Managing Director Rohan Chand Thakur.


Digital Desk: In Himachal Pradesh, more than 190 roads have been closed due to continuous rainfall affecting much of the state over the past four days. The local weather office has issued a 'yellow' alert for heavy rains through August 7.

According to data released by the state emergency operation center, out of the 191 closed roads, 79 are in Mandi, 38 in Kullu, 35 in Chamba, 30 in Shimla, five in Kangra, and two each in Kinnaur and Lahaul and Spiti districts. Additionally, 294 transformers and 120 water supply schemes have been disrupted.

Moderate to heavy rainfall continue to affect various regions, with Jogindernagar receiving the highest rainfall of 85 mm since Friday evening. Other areas include Gohar (80 mm), Shilaroo (76.4 mm), Poanta Sahib (67.2 mm), Palampur (57.2 mm), Dharamshala (55.6 mm), and Chopal (52 mm).

Since the onset of the monsoon on June 27 through August 1, rain-related incidents have resulted in 77 fatalities and inflicted losses totaling Rs 655 crore, according to officials.
