Digital Desk: Shaktimaan aka Mukesh Khanna has slammed the makers of Shah Rukh Khan and Deepika Padukone starrer Pathaan for hurting religious sentiments. The veteran actor has commented on the ongoing controversy against Deepika Padukone wearing a saffron bikini in the song Besharam Rang.

In an interview with ABP News, Khanna said he thinks the film industry has gone haywire. According to him, this is a matter of vulgarity and has nothing to do with any religious issue. The censor board is not the Supreme Court. He also blames the censor board, asking, "Can they not perceive all these attacks on the Hindu religion?"

Later, he acknowledged that he has a problem with vulgarity. "Our nation is not like Sweden, Spain, or other such liberal nations. You dared to bring them in such restrictive clothing; next, you'll bring them naked!" Khanna even added that the job of the censor board is to ensure that films do not hurt anyone's personal feelings and beliefs. "The censor must not pass such films that provoke or lead the youth astray. According to Mahabharat, star songs can mess with the brains of youth and mislead them.  This is not a song for the OTT, but rather a film. How did the censor approve it? Did they not see the purposeful provocative dressing? asked Khanna.

Meanwhile, Maharastra BJP leader Ram Kadam has demanded an explanation from the producers over the ongoing dispute. Kadam has spoken to multiple news channels and stated that films hurting religious sentiment won't be allowed to showcase in Maharashtra. While speaking to India Today, "Any movie, any serial that hurts Hindu sentiments, those films and serials would not be allowed in Maharashtra."

Pathaan, starring Shah Rukh Khan, Deepika Padukone, and John Abraham, will be released in theatres on January 25, 2023.
