Digital Desk: Prime Minister Narendra Modi resume his slams upon the grand old party Congress in the Parliament on Tuesday. PM Modi attacked Congress, stating their action on removing the late Lata Mangeshkar's brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar from All India Radio. PM Modi cited the dismissal of Hridaynath Mangeshkar, Lata ji's brother, as evidence that Hridaynath was removed for accusing the grand old party of suffocating freedom of expression. "Today India is sad because of the demise of Lata Mangeshkarji... but let me tell you that during Congress' rule in Goa, her younger brother, Hridaynath Mangeshkar, was removed from All India Radio in eight days as he recited some verses from Veer Savarkar's poem," the Prime Minister said. Referring to Lata Mangeshkar's brother Hridaynath Mangeshkar as "What was his fault?" Modi remarked of the "proud son of Goa," who will vote in an Assembly election next week. On AIR, he had only ever read a patriotic poem by Veer Savarkar." "In an interview, Hridaynathji stated that he once met Savarkar, who asked him, "Do you want to go to jail for reading my poem?" But when Hridaynathji recited it, he was fired within eight days. This was their (the Congress') understanding of freedom of expression "he exclaimed. PM Modi even cited Kishore Kumar, a well-known singer who "would not turn to Indira Gandhi during the Emergency and was excluded from singing on the radio." "The trouble with Congress is that it has never scrutinized beyond its dynasty. Dynastic parties pose the greatest threat to democracy... because when the family takes priority, talent is the first casualty."
