Digital Desk: Following BCCI's announcement that current head coach Ramesh Powar will join the National Cricket Academy, the Indian Women's Cricket team is likely to have a new coach (NCA). The Indian Women's team's new batting coach, Hrishikesh Kanitkar, was also officially announced by cricket's governing body.
The BCCI board announced on Tuesday that Hrishikesh Kanitkar, who toured with the senior Men's squad to New Zealand in place of regular batting coach Vikram Rathour, will join the Women's team ahead of their forthcoming five-match T20I series against Australia.

Kanitkar described it as an "honour" to have been chosen as the batting coach of the Indian Women's side, while Ramesh Powar will join NCA under VVS Laxman's guidance as he ‘will transition to Men's cricket as part of the restructuring module of the BCCI.’
"It is an honour to be named the Senior Women's team's new batting coach. This team has great potential, and we have a nice balance of youth and experience "Read Kanitkar's statement following his hiring in the BCCI media release.
"This crew is prepared, in my opinion, for the task at hand. It will be exciting for the squad and myself as the batting coach as we have a few major events coming up " he added.
Ramesh Powar, who was working with the Indian Women's squad for the second time, described his time as their batting coach an "enriching experience."
"Serving as the senior women's team's head coach has been a rewarding experience for me. Over the years, I have collaborated closely with some of the industry veterans and up-and-coming national stars "the former Indian spinner stated.
He added, "With my new position at the NCA, I will be aiming to carry on my knowledge from the past to support the development of potential for the future. I'm looking forward to collaborating with Mr. VVS Laxman to strengthen the bench and advance the game."
