Digital Desk: Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on Thursday evening (March 16, 2023) that the Assamese paper was leaked days after the general science question paper of the Class 10 state board exam was leaked.

Following that, the CM directed the Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) to cancel and postpone the exam. The Assamese Modern Indian Language (MIL) examination was scheduled for Saturday, March 18.

CM Himanta Biswa Sarma on March 16 took to Twitter where he wrote, “It has been brought to my notice that the arrested accused centre in-charge of Luhit Khabalu HS School has, during interrogation, confessed of leaking Assamese paper as well. In view of this, I have advised SEBA to reschedule the Assamese exam also.” 

Immediately after the post of Assam CM, Education Minister Ranoj Pegu also tweeted saying “SEBA has informed me that as advised by HCM @CMOfficeAssam, the exam of all MIL subjects, including English (IL) of HSLC scheduled for 18 March, will be rescheduled. The new date will be announced tomorrow.” 

On Sunday night, the general science question paper for the Class 10 matriculation exam was leaked, and the exam scheduled for Monday was cancelled as a result.

According to a SEBA statement, the subject test will now be scheduled on March 30.

Earlier in the day, CM Sarma admitted before the assembly that the "leak of the general science question paper was a 'failure' of his government. I regret to inform you that the major culprits are one school's centre in charge and three other teachers," CM stated

Netizens are outraged by the frequent incidents of HSLC paper leaks, and the question has been raised as to "why the Assam government is not taking any significant action. Why is a student's life being messed with, and why are repeated actions not being thoroughly investigated?"
