Digital Desk: Naseeruddin Shah opened up about The Kerala Story controversy, calling the Adah Sharma film a "dangerous trend." He further stated that he has no plans to watch the Sudipto Sen-directed film, which has so far minted over Rs 200 crore at the box office.

While sharing his thoughts on the film, Naseeruddin Shah compared the movie to Nazi Germany. He told India today.in, "It is, without a doubt, a dangerous trend. We appear to be moving in the direction of Nazi Germany, when filmmakers were co-opted or attempted to be co-opted, by the supreme leader to make films praising him and what he has done for the countrymen while disparaging the Jewish population."

He added that no one went to watch 'worthwhile films like Bheed, Afwaah, and Faraaz,' but instead flocked to see The Kerala Story, which he has not seen and has no plans to watch.

The Kerala Story Controversy

The Kerala Story, starring Adah Sharma, Yogita Bahani, Siddhi Idnani, and Sonia Balani, sparked outrage from the moment its teaser was revealed. The film narrates the story of a group of females who are forced to join ISIS after converting to Islam. The story's credibility has been put into question.

Meanwhile, The Kerala Story continues to dominate the box office despite the controversy. With an estimated collection of Rs 230 crore, it has become the second-largest Hindi grosser of 2023, following Shah Rukh Khan's Pathaan.
