Digital Desk: Disney+ Hotstar has rewritten the record books in the world of live streaming with a staggering peak concurrency of 4.3 crore viewers during the thrilling ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2023 match between India and New Zealand on Sunday, October 22.

This achievement stands as a historic milestone in the world of live streaming and cricket, representing the highest peak concurrency ever recorded for any format of the sport. It surpasses Disney+ Hotstar's own record set during India vs. Pakistan match earlier in the tournament when they reached a peak concurrency of 3.5 crore viewers.

The battle between the Indian cricket team and New Zealand also eclipsed the previous record set during the ICC Men’s Cricket World Cup 2019 semi-finals, which had a peak concurrency of 2.5 crore viewers.

Sajith Sivanandan, Head of Disney+ Hotstar India, expressed his gratitude to the platform's users, saying, "We want to thank our users who flocked to Disney+ Hotstar for the thrilling game between India vs New Zealand and helped us reset the world record for concurrent viewers for a live streaming event."

The thrilling match on Sunday saw the Indian cricket team continue their winning streak, defeating New Zealand by four wickets in Dharamshala. This victory was especially significant as it marked India’s first win against the Kiwis since 2003.

With the ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 now entering its decisive phase, Disney+ Hotstar aims to continue delivering unforgettable moments to cricket enthusiasts across India. Sivanandan emphasized their commitment to providing the best live streaming experience for their users.
