Digital Desk: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) predicted on Tuesday that Assam is expected to have rainfall till August 26 with sporadic heavy to very heavy rainfalls.

Three northeastern states, including Assam, Arunachal Pradesh, and Meghalaya, were placed on orange alert by the Regional Meteorological Centre in Guwahati.


RMC stated that numerous Assam districts would receive scattered light to moderate rainfall, isolated heavy to very heavy rainfall, and isolated thunderstorms and lightning.


The department further added that various areas of Assam are anticipated to have moderate to heavy rainfall over the next 24 hours, along with isolated thunderstorms and lightning strikes.



Actions suggested

• Follow traffic advisories issued, if any.

• Refrain from residing in unsafe buildings.

• Propping of the vegetable pandals is recommended.

• When there is a thunderstorm or lightning, seek shelter.

• Apply mulch to the crop's base to protect the soil and roots.

• Avoid working in the fields during thunderstorms or lightning periods and ensure proper mechanisms to avoid runoff in case of rain.
