Digital Desk: Residents of Delhi, Rajasthan, Haryana, and other nearby states were shocked by the heat in several regions of India in February. IMD has forecast that this year's first heatwave will arrive in February.

The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has forecast that a temperature rise will be witnessed in northern and central India over the next three days till March 2, resulting in one of the warmest Marches Delhi has had in years.

While Delhi's highest temperature often ranges between 30 and 32 degrees Celsius, the same value is closer to 35 to 37 degrees Celsius. IMD has now forecast that by March 2, 2023, the temperature will rise by about 3-6 degrees Celsius.

This equates to one of the warmest Marches these states have seen in recent years, with temperatures in the first week of March reaching about 40 degrees Celsius in places like Delhi, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, and other nearby cities.

IMD recently predicted a gradual increase in maximum temperatures of 2-3°C over several areas of south Rajasthan and Uttar Pradesh during the next three days, with no more significant changes.

The weather agency added, "For the majority of the Northwest during the next 5 days, maximum temperatures quite likely will continue to be above normal by 3-6°C." In addition, the IMD forecasted rain in various regions of the nation.

Moderate to moderate broad to widespread rainfall/snowfall with thunderstorms & lightning likely over Western Himalayan Region from 28th February to 02nd March 2023, according to IMD's rainfall alert. On March 1st, 2023, light, isolated to scattered precipitation is also predicted for Chandigarh, Haryana, and Punjab in Punjab.

According to reports, Delhi saw its warmest February in 2023, with several areas of the capital experiencing maximum temperatures of more than 30 degrees Celsius.
