The victim, a 21-year-old nursing student, has been identified as tractor driver Bhojaraj Basavaraj, the accused.

Digital Desk: According to authorities, a 23-year-old guy allegedly killed his ex-girlfriend on the off chance that she was seeing someone else and then transported her severed head to the neighbourhood police station in Karnataka's Vijayanagar district. An official with knowledge of the situation indicated that the suspect was detained and placed in 14-day judicial custody.

The victim, a 21-year-old nursing student, has been identified as tractor driver Bhojaraj Basavaraj, the accused.

Arun K, the superintendent of police at Vijayanagar, claimed that Nirmala and Basavaraj had been dating each other for a while. The two fell out after Basavaraj made a marriage proposal to Nirmala's father last year, which he rejected. He claimed that while the accused wed someone else in April, he kept stalking Nirmala.

He had a sneaking suspicion that she was seeing another man. Every time she returned home, he used to monitor her movements, the SP claimed.

Nirmala was home alone on Thursday morning when Basavaraj entered her home with a machete and sliced her throat, according to the police. Considering that there were no indications of a protracted battle, it is assumed that the victim was asleep when he entered the residence. The offender appears to have cut her throat and beheaded her, the officer continued.

Later, after fleeing Nirmala's home for 4 kilometres, he brought the severed head to a nearby police station in Kudligi and turned himself in. He added, "When our team got to the residence, they found Nirmala's torso and the murder weapon. He continued, "During interrogation, Basavaraj acknowledged that he committed the crime out of envy.

Police have filed a suo motu complaint, and Basavaraj has been charged with murder in accordance with Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code. Later, a municipal court sentenced him to 14 days of judicial detention.
