Digital Desk: The Karnataka government published new guidelines on Thursday in response to an increase in coronavirus cases, mandating random screening of all arriving international travellers. The state of Karnataka has stated that it will implement the instructions issued by the Union Ministry of Health in February. "Genomic sequencing should be performed on all positive specimens." Passengers who test positive should be kept under surveillance, quarantined, and managed according to current protocols, according to the guidelines.

·        The healthcare facilities will report Influence-Like Illness (ILI) patients from the OPD.

·         Every 20th patient should be tested for Covid-19.


·     Monitoring Severe Acute Respiratory Illness (SARI) patients in all government and select tertiary private hospitals and testing them for Covid-19 by RT-PCR is also mandatory.


·       Community-based surveillance will be done by event-based surveillance through media scanning.

As the number of COVID cases in Karnataka continued to rise, the instructions were issued. On Wednesday, Bengaluru saw another jump in the Covid tally, with 615 cases of Karnataka's 648 new infections reported.

According to data supplied by the health department, Bengaluru also had one death for the first time since June 5. The number of active cases in the state increased to 3,997, with 3,843 from Bangalore.
