Digital Desk : The Australian top order Sam Konstas, Usman Khawaja, Marnus Labuschagne and Steve Smith scored half centuries at the end of 1st day in Melbourne.
Australia scored 311/6 (86) and Smith, Pat Cummins remain unbeaten at the end of the day.


Earlier today, Pat Cummins won the toss and chose to bat first. The hosts managed to dominate the first two sessions. India mounted a comeback after Jasprit Bumrah picked up 3 wickets finishing with figures of 3/75. Spinners Ravindra Jadeja, Washington Sundar and pacer Akash Deep claimed one wicket each.

The first session was dominated by Australian batsmen. Aussie's debutant 19 year old Sam Konstas played fearless cricket and set the tone for Australia. Konstas and Khawaja's partnership played a huge role scoring 89 runs. In his maiden international match, Konstas scored 60 off 65 balls. The debutant successfully battled against Bumrah's bowling attack in the opening
day at Melbourne.


In the second session Aussie scored 65 runs. Khawaja, Labuschagne and Smith capitalized on Konstas' start, scored their fifties and ensured a solid foundation for the team. Resilient partnership between Smith and Alex Carey guided Australia close to 300.


On the other hand, Jasprit Bumrah emerged as the best bowler of the day as he picked three important Australian wickets for the team.
