New Delhi: The rampage which the second wave of the covid pandemic is inflicting on the country, about 357,229 new cases have been added in the last 24 hours taking the country’s caseload past the 2 crore-mark for the first time since the pandemic began.

The death toll mounted to 222,408 with 3,449 more fatalities in the past 24 hours, while several experts believe the actual figure could be much higher.

As many as 3,20,289 patients were discharged from hospitals yesterday, taking the overall recoveries to 1,66,13,292.

There are currently 34,47,133 active cases in India, comprising 17 per cent of the overall infections. The national Covid-19 recovery rate is at 81.91 per cent.
