Digital Desk: According to the Union Health Ministry's bulletin on Thursday, India's daily Covid tally increased for the second consecutive day, with as many as 19,893 new infections in the last 24 hours. This represents a 16 percent or 2,758 increase from the previous day, when 17,135 people tested positive for the infectious disease.

The total number of active patients in the country fell to 136,478 on Thursday, down from 137,057 on Wednesday. Furthermore, with up to 20,419 more discharges, the total recovery count increased to 43,424,029. Meanwhile, the virus-related death toll increased by 53 to 526,530.

 

With this, the national caseload stands at 44,087,037, of which 98.49 percent are recoveries, 1.19 percent are deaths, and 0.31 percent are active patients. This is also the fifth consecutive day that the daily tally has remained below 20,000.
