India crushed Sri Lanka by 317 runs, surpassing New Zealand's 290-run win over Ireland in Aberdeen in July 2008.

Digital Desk: India set a new record for the largest margin of victory (by runs) in 50-over international cricket on Sunday in Thiruvananthapuram . This incredible feat was accomplished during the third One-Day International versus Sri Lanka, confirming India's place in cricket history.

India crushed Sri Lanka by 317 runs, surpassing New Zealand's 290-run win over Ireland in Aberdeen in July 2008. Previously, India's highest margin of victory was a 257-run victory over Bermuda during the 2007 World Cup in Port of Spain.

Sri Lanka was knocked out for 73 runs in 22 overs while chasing India's intimidating total of 391. The visitors were already at a disadvantage because Ashen Bandara was unable to bat due to an injury sustained while fielding. He was replaced by concussion substitute Dunith Wellalage after colliding with Jeffrey Vandersay at the square-leg boundary.

With statistics of 4/32 in 10 overs, Mohammed Siraj wrecked havoc on Sri Lanka. The remaining wickets were then taken by Mohammed Shami (2/20) and Kuldeep Yadav (2/16), ensuring a comfortable victory.
