Digital Desk: India and Pakistan will add another chapter to their ancient rivalry today, after the India team's setback now Babar Azam's side has suffered a severe setback as it's been reported that Shahnawaz Dahani has been injured and will not be able to participate against Team India.
Dahani has a possible side strain, according to a national report. On Friday, he was injured while bowling against Hong Kong in Sharjah.
As with any suspected side strain injury, the medical staff will watch him for the next 48-72 hours before making a decision, which could include a scan and continued participation in the competition.
Pakistan have been without Shaheen Shah Afridi and Mohammad Wasim Jnr, both of whom have been ruled out of the Asia Cup 2022 due to injuries.
While Shaheen injured his right knee during the Test series against Sri Lanka last month, Mohammad Wasim was injured during a training session only days before the Asia Cup opener.
The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has named Hasan Ali as Wasim's replacement, and while Ali did not play against India, the all-rounder may easily feature in the playing XI following Dahani's injury.
This is a significant smash for Babar's team ahead of the vital Super 4 match between India and Pakistan. Meanwhile, Team India has seen its fair share of injuries.
