Digital Desk: The ongoing ICC Men's Cricket World Cup 2023 has so far managed to break, equal, and set new records. The match between India and South Africa on Sunday also featured notable accomplishments. The match's first innings received 4.4 crore concurrent watchers, setting a new global streaming record.

The platform streaming the ICC Cricket Global Cup 2023, Disney+ Hotstar, thanked Team India fans for the global record.

The new viewership figures surpassed the streaming platform's earlier concurrency high of 4.3 crore set on October 22 during India's match against New Zealand. The previous record, in turn, had smashed the record of 3.5 crore viewers set during the earlier match between India and Pakistan.

The Minister for Railways, Communications, Electronics, and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, praised the streaming record as well as Virat Kohli's record-equaling tonne.

Virat Kohli equalled Sachin Tendulkar's record for most hundreds in one-day internationals in Sunday's match between India and South Africa. The achievement came on Kohli’s 35th birthday.

The eighth World Cup match between India and South Africa is being played at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
