The integration of advanced aerial assets reaffirms India's resolve to uphold territorial integrity and enhance border surveillance...

Digital Desk: In a significant development bolstering India's defense infrastructure, the Indian Army is poised to integrate its first Hermes-900 drone, also known as the Drishti-10 drone, into its arsenal. Scheduled for induction on May 18th at Hyderabad, this milestone marks a substantial augmentation of surveillance capabilities along the Pakistan border.

Procured under emergency provisions mandating over 60% indigenization, the Hermes-900 drones represent a pivotal step towards bolstering India's self-reliance in defense, aligning with the 'Make in India' initiative. Manufactured by Adani Defence, the drones are set to play a crucial role in monitoring the Bathinda base in Punjab, covering expansive terrain, including the desert sector and areas north of Punjab.

This induction complements the Indian Army's existing fleet of Heron Mark 1 and Mark 2 drones, showcasing a concerted effort to modernize and diversify aerial surveillance capabilities. Adani Defence's partnership with Israeli firm Elbit underscores a strategic transfer of technology, with 70% indigenization already achieved and plans for further localization.

Furthermore, the incorporation of satellite communication-enabled drones from Israel underscores India's commitment to leveraging cutting-edge technology for national security. With the continuous evolution of defense strategies, the integration of advanced aerial assets reaffirms India's resolve to uphold territorial integrity and enhance border surveillance capabilities.

As the Indian Army continues to fortify its defense apparatus, the induction of Hermes-900 drones signals a proactive approach towards modernization and indigenous development, bolstering national security in an increasingly complex geopolitical landscape.
