Bengaluru: Reputed two-wheeler manufacturing company in India TVS Motors has announced on Thursday that it has received the Indian Green Energy Award 2020. The company has been felicitated with the recognition for being an ‘Outstanding Renewable Energy User’ in the third edition of the India Green Energy Award, which has been organized by the Indian Federation of Green Energy (IFGE).

The Indian Green Energy Award is an initiative of the Indian Federation of Green Energy (IFGE) to recognize and highlight the importance of environmental sustainability and green and clean energy for the future of the environment. It also promotes an environmentally friendly way of doing business.

This year the organization has awarded TVS Motors in recognition to their multiple efforts of using renewable energy and alternative power sources in manufacturing their products. The company has also undertaken green initiatives in all its manufacturing units across the country.

The company in its effort to support green manufacturing in the recent past has been able to reduce specific power consumption to around 15 per cent. Besides, it has also reduced specific fuel consumption by 20 per cent.

Their initiative has also resulted in the reduction of the CO2 emissions by about 58,812 tons during the year 2020-21.

In the same year, the company’s renewable energy contributed 84 per cent of their overall power consumption.

The award was presented to the company by Union Minister of Transport Nitin Gadkari and Minister of State Bhagwanth Khuba.

The jury of this award comprised of leading experts from the green energy sector. They evaluated 46 participants across multiple sectors.
