Bhopal: On Thursday morning, a fighter plane of the Indian Air Force (IAF) Mirage 2000 crashed in the Bhind district of the state of Madhya Pradesh.

According to reports from the spot of the incident, a single pilot was operating the plane. Fortunately, the pilot is safe, after he managed to safely eject himself out of the plane with the help of a parachute.

The sources of the Indian Air Force say that the accident occurred due to some technical failure in the Mirage 2000 aircraft. However, a technical team of the IAF is investigating the matter to ascertain the actual reason that led to the abnormality.

"An IAF Mirage 2000 aircraft experienced a technical malfunction during a training sortie in the central sector this morning. The pilot ejected safely. An Inquiry has been ordered to ascertain the cause of the accident," the IAF tweeted.

The accident happened after the plane took off from the Maharajpura airbase from the Gwalior city. It crashed in an agricultural field in a village in Bhind district of the state.

After hearing about the incident, a team of local police and IAF officials immediately reached the spot for a rescue operation. The local residents of the village also reached the crash site in huge numbers.
