Before flying to Mumbai in his mother's presence, Pant met his rescuers on the premises of an overseas hospital.

Digital Desk: Indian cricketer Rishabh Pant underwent successful surgery on January 6 in the afternoon, reports said. At the Kokilaben Hospital in Mumbai, Pant is scheduled to be kept under observation for three to four days.

After receiving initial treatment for a knee ligament injury, the batter was airlifted out of Dehradun. According to the information, the player has been responding well to his treatment.

On December 30, Pant was caught in a road accident while he was on his way from Delhi to Roorkee. Pant's car crashed through the road divider and toppled onto the opposite side.

The batter was rescued from his Mercedes car by locals as it was being engulfed in flames. Pant appeared to have suffered serious injuries, which were later confirmed by photos and the BCCI medical staff. As the board considered sending him abroad, Pant was transferred from Dehradun's Max Hospital to Mumbai for extra care.

The Indian squad and the entire country sent their best wishes and best wishes for Pant's quick recovery. The keeper is expected to be away for an extended period and may not be able to recover in time for the ODI World Cup.

Abhinav Bindra, the gold medalist for India at the Olympics, has asked the BCCI to support Pant after the horrific incident.
