Manama: Indian women’s national football team registered an outstanding victory by defeating Bahrain 5-0 in an international friendly in its capital city Manama on Sunday.

Mid-fielder Sangita Basfore scored the first goal in the 13th minute. Her goal was followed by another four goals jointly contributed by Pyari Xaxa (19th and 68th minute), Indumathi Kathiresan (34th minute), Manisha Kalyan (69th minute).

Team India also received a red card during the match when striker Pyari Xaxa was sent off in the 73rd minute by the referee.

India is ranked 57th in the latest FIFA women’s rankings. Bahrain on the other hand stands at 85th position.

This victory comes after India’s 0-1 defeat to Tunisia in another international friendly earlier last month.
