bfc2 Digital Desk: In Bodh Gaya, India, the largest reclining statue of Lord Buddha is being constructed. The statue, which will be 100 feet long and 30 feet high, will be built by Buddha International Welfare Mission. The statue depicts Lord Buddha in a sleeping posture. The construction of the massive statue began in 2019. It is made of fibreglass and is being built by sculptors from Kolkata. Lord Buddha preached to his disciples in this posture before Mahaparinirvana. Because Bodh Gaya is the location of Lord Buddha's enlightenment, this idol is being constructed there." He stated that the idol of Lord Buddha in this posture can be found in Kushinagar, Uttar Pradesh, where he attained Mahaparinirvana. He also stated that the massive statue of Lord Buddha will be open to devotees in February 2023. Bodh Gaya is an important Buddhist pilgrimage site that attracts devotees from all over the world.
