Digital Desk: Industrialist Anil Ambani appeared before the Enforcement Directorate at its Ballard Estate office in south Mumbai, on Monday.

Reportedly, the chairman of the Reliance Group has appeared to record a statement in a FEMA (Foreign Exchange Management Act) violation case.

In March of this year, the Bombay High Court directed the Income Tax (I-T) department not to take coercive action against Anil Ambani till March 17 on fresh penalty notices issued against him over its allegation that the Reliance (ADA) Group chief evaded Rs 420 crore in taxes on an amount of Rs 814 crore held in two Swiss Bank accounts.

Later, in April, the High Court extended his protection till further orders were issued and halted the I-T department's show cause notice and penalty demand issued to the industrialist under the Black Money Act.

It is to be noted that the industrialist previously cooperated with the ED's investigation into the Yes Bank loan kickbacks issue.
