New Delhi: IntelliSmart Infrastructure Private Ltd (IntelliSmart), to install more than 6 lakh pre-paid smart meters in 19 circles of Assam, an official report said.

Reportedly, the Assam government has given Rs. 500 crores to Intellismart, a Gurugram-based joint venture of the National Investment Infrastructure Fund (NIIF) and Energy Efficiency Services Limited (EESL) for the installation.

Additionally, a Letter of Award (LoA) was awarded to the company by the Assam government through the Assam Power Distribution Company Ltd (APDCL), Anil Rawal, MD, and CEO, IntelliSmart told PTI during an interaction.

“This was the first time that competitive bids were invited for any smart metering project on Totex mode (capex + opex), and Assam gets the distinction of leading the smart metering drive of the country on the competitive model.” said Anil Rawat.

Further, the MD added, “This will enable smart metering in pre-paid mode and would usher the transformation in the power distribution in Assam through the digitalization process."

As per reports, the project will cover Nagaon, Morigaon, KANCH, Cachar, Badarpur, Jorhat, Golaghat, Sibsagar, Dibrugarh, Tinsukia, GEC-I, Kokrajhar, Bongaigaon, Barpeta, Rangia, Mangaldoi, Tezpur, North Lakhimpur and GEC-II circles of Assam.
