Modi, who is on a three-day state visit to the United States, is scheduled to practise yoga with UN leadership later in the day.

Digital Desk: On the occasion of the 9th International Day of Yoga, Prime Minister Narendra Modi virtually addressed the nation on Wednesday, June 21, saying that India has always cultivated traditions that unify, adopt, and embrace, and making a heartfelt appeal to eradicate inconsistencies and resistances through yoga.

"Yoga strengthens such feelings, expands the inner vision, and connects us with that consciousness which makes us feel the unity of the living being, giving a basis of love for the living being," the Prime Minister remarked.

On December 11, 2014, the United Nations General Assembly passed a resolution declaring June 21 as International Day of Yoga. PM Modi stated at the session, "Yoga is an invaluable gift from our old tradition.... Yoga is more than simply exercise; it is a method to reconnect with yourself, the world, and nature."

Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar led the national celebration of Yoga Day in Madhya Pradesh's Jabalpur. Dhankar emphasised the significance of this year's topic, emphasising how it embodies the depth and combined aspirations of Indian culture. "It is 'Vasudhav Kutumbakam Ke Liye Yoga,' which means one earth, one family, and one future," he explained. "This is also the theme of the G20, which the country is currently chairing."

Along with the VP, Madhya Pradesh Governor Mangubhai Patel, Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan, Union ministers Virendra Kumar, Faggan Singh Kulaste, and Prahlad Patel, and state BJP president and MP Vishnu Dutt Sharma were present at Jabalpur's Garrison Ground.

 

Rajnath Singh joins Navy personnel on board INS Vikrant

 

Defence Minister Rajnath Singh joined hundreds of Navy sailors on board INS Vikrant, India's first indigenously built aircraft carrier, for the yoga celebrations on Wednesday.

 

For about an hour, the defence people positioned themselves in various rows and performed various asanas according to the instructions. The 'Agniveers' also did yoga together, embracing the spirit of oneness and well-being.

 

 "It is a source of pride for India that the International Day of Yoga is being celebrated all over the world today, demonstrating that our rich culture and heritage are being recognised and adopted globally," added the Union Minister.

 

Navy Chief Admiral R Hari Kumar, as well as other top officers from the Navy and the Ministry of Defence, attended the ceremony.

 

Mansukh Manaviya, Minister of Health, leads the celebrations at AIIMS in Delhi.

 

Union Health Minister Mansukh Mandaviya said on Wednesday that yoga has become India's "soft power" as he led a session with hundreds of participants at AIIMS in New Delhi to commemorate International Day of Yoga.

 

Mandaviya noted during the ceremony, "Yoga is an ancient Indian tradition, but its practise has declined over time." Yoga received a great boost from Prime Minister Narendra Modi, and it is now done everywhere in the world. It has evolved into India's soft power." "Yoga helps calm the mind and energise the body," he stated, highlighting the benefits of yoga in everyday life. Yoga comes to mind whenever we discuss health and fitness. It is a type of preventive therapy because it increases immunity in the body."

 

In Delhi, President Droupadi Murmu celebrated Yoga Day at Rashtrapati Bhavan, while Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla joined the festivities in Parliament House.

 

"Yoga is one of our civilization's greatest achievements, as well as India's greatest gift to the rest of the world." Yoga unites the body and mind and is a comprehensive approach to life. "Yoga prepares us all to meet the increasing challenges that surround us," the President wrote on Twitter.

 

Meanwhile, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, Maharashtra Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, Governor CV Ananda Bose, and other state officials joined the national celebrations.
