The 36 first-generation satellites, each weighing 5,805 kg, will be launched into an orbit 450 km in diameter and inclined at about 87.4-degree angle.

Digital Desk: The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) on Sunday successfully launched India’s largest Launch Vehicle Mark-III (LVM3) rocket/OneWeb India-2 Mission with 36 satellites onboard from Satish Dhawan Space Centre in Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.

On Saturday, the LVM3 rocket's second commercial launch countdown began. At nine in the morning, the 43.5-meter-tall rocket was launched. The 36 first-generation satellites, each weighing 5,805 kg, will be launched into an orbit 450 km in diameter and inclined at about 87.4-degree angle.

The LVM-III will launch 36 satellites for Network Access Associated Ltd. (OneWeb), a company based in the UK, into Low Earth Orbit (LEO) on Sunday. The OneWeb Group Corporation and NewSpace India Ltd have agreed to launch 72 satellites into low-Earth orbit (LEO). With the launch of 36 OneWeb satellites by ISRO in October 2022, the two organizations' first joint satellite deployment project was launched. Governments and companies can connect to OneWeb, a worldwide communication network powered by space.

With its 18th launch and third this year, OneWeb, which counts Bharti Enterprises as a significant investor, will have finished the first generation of the LEO constellation. The OneWeb India-2 Mission is ISRO's second successful launch of the year after the SSLV-D2/EOS07 mission in February.

Sunday's launch marks the sixth total flight for the LVM3 rocket, formerly known as the Geosynchronous Satellite Launch Vehicle MkIII (GSLVMkIII). It completed five missions in a row, including Chandrayaan-2.
