This remarkable feat earned ISRO recognition at the prestigious Aviation Week Laureates Award...

Digital Desk: The International Astronomical Union (IAU) has officially designated the spot where the Vikram lander of the Indian Space Research Organisation's (ISRO) Chandrayaan-3 mission touched down on the Moon as "Shiva Shakti." This landmark decision, confirmed after nearly seven months since Prime Minister Narendra Modi's initial announcement, marks a significant moment in lunar exploration.

The Gazetteer of Planetary Nomenclature formally recognized "Statio Shiva Shakti" on March 19, culminating in a process initiated by Prime Minister Modi's declaration on August 26, 2023. The name draws from Indian mythology, symbolizing the cosmic duality embodied by the masculine ('Shiva') and feminine ('Shakti') energies, representing the landing site of Chandrayaan-3's Vikram lander.

Prime Minister Modi also declared August 23 as 'National Space Day' in celebration of Chandrayaan-3's historic lunar landing. Similarly, he honored the location where Chandrayaan-2 made its mark on the lunar surface as 'Tiranga', serving as a beacon of resilience.

The success of the Chandrayaan-3 mission on August 23, 2023, marked India's significant leap forward in lunar exploration.
Notably, India became the first nation to reach the Moon's uncharted South Pole and ranks among the top four nations to achieve a soft landing on the lunar surface.

This remarkable feat earned ISRO recognition at the prestigious Aviation Week Laureates Award, applauding its groundbreaking contributions to aerospace innovation. With "Shiva Shakti" now etched in lunar history, India's strides in space exploration stand as a testament to its scientific prowess and commitment to pushing the boundaries of exploration.
