It has been claimed that additional Muslim organizations intend to reschedule the commission...

Digital Desk: Following the announcement of the 18th Lok Sabha election poll dates by the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Sunday, the Indian Union Muslim League (IUML) declared that it would approach the poll panel to change the dates of voting in Kerala and Tamil Nadu, as they are scheduled for Friday.

The elections in Kerala will take place on April 26 and in Tamil Nadu on April 19. Both dates fall on a Friday.

Since Friday is a significant day for Muslims, the IUML, a significant ally of the Opposition Congress party in the UDF, announced that it will approach the ECI to move the dates of the elections in Tamil Nadu and Kerala. This will cause inconvenience for candidates, officials, and voters.

The state general secretary of the IUML, P M A Salam, told PTI that Fridays are a significant day for Muslims who congregate at mosques for prayer.

"Voters, candidates, poll workers, and election officials will all be inconvenienced by the announcement of polling on Friday. The ECI will be moved," he stated.

It has been claimed that additional Muslim organizations intend to reschedule the commission to schedule a different date.
