The terminal's opening is a significant achievement for the Airport Authority of India because it is the second Civil Terminal building in Arunachal after the one at Donyi-Polo Airport Holonggi.

Digital Desk: The Tezu Airport in Arunachal Pradesh's new terminal building was inaugurated on Sunday, marking a significant development in the infrastructure for air connectivity.

The new Tezu terminal, which can accommodate 300 passengers, was inaugurated by Union Minister for Civil Aviation Jyotiraditya Scindia in the presence of Arunachal's Minister for Civil Aviation Nakap Nalo, Lok Sabha MP Tapir Gaon, Rajya Sabha MP Rebia Nabam, MLAs, and other dignitaries.

The terminal's opening is a significant achievement for the Airport Authority of India because it is the second Civil Terminal building in Arunachal after the one at Donyi-Polo Airport Holonggi. With the help of this improved infrastructure, visitors can now easily access a variety of attractive locations throughout the state, serving as a crucial transit hub.

Notably, it provides access to Mayudia, the closest mountain pass with snowfall, and Dong Valley, famous for hosting India's first sunrise. Additionally, historical and religious landmarks like Parshuram and Bishmaknagar are conveniently accessible thanks to Tezu Airport's strategic location.

It also serves as a starting point for trips to places like the Namdapha Tiger Reserve, Glow Lake, and Manabum Tropical Forest. There are ambitious plans to further expand Dornier Flight services to border regions like Walong, Tuting, and Mechukha with the overall goal of promoting regional tourism and improving connectivity. Dornier Flight Services already operates biweekly flights from Itanagar to Tezu, Pasighat, and Ziro Airports, and ATR-72 flight service between Tezu and Guwahati operates five days per week.

Teju Airport became operational in 2018 as part of the Ministry of Civil Aviation's RCS UDAN programme. Alliance Air and Flybig Airline currently offer regular scheduled flights from the airport to Dibrugarh, Imphal, and Guwahati.
