Digital Desk: Rekibuddin Ahmed, a 108 Ambulance driver, was arrested after surrendering in Rangia a day after the horrific road accident in Kahilipara, Guwahati.  


Rekibuddin was involved in the tragic road accident that claimed the life of Luna Bharadwaj.

He was presented before the Chief Judicial Magistrate (CJM) court, though the police did not seek his custody.


The court is expected to send him to jail later today.


Following the unfortunate incident, Luna's family filed a formal complaint.


Additionally, the family of Achyut Baruah, who was injured in the accident, also lodged a complaint.


Based on these complaints, the Dispur Traffic Police registered a case under Section 105 of the BNS act.


The driver has been charged under sections pertaining to culpable homicide not amounting to murder.


Notably, medical test confirmed there was no trace of alcohol in his body.


The police are currently investigating whether brake failure contributed to the accident.


The vehicle involved will undergo an examination by the Motor Vehicle Inspector (MVI), whose report will determine the validity of the brake failure claim.
