Digital Desk: A shooting incident unfolded in Japisajia, under the jurisdiction of Demow Police Station in Sivasagar, causing alarm among residents.


The incident took place on National Highway 37, when motorcycle thieves opened fire, targeting the public.


The shocking event has raised serious security concerns, especially amidst heightened measures ahead of Republic Day.


The chaos began when two thieves stole a black Pulsar bike (registration number AS/04/Z/7454) belonging to a person named Biman Roy, parked at Rajmai's Sunday Market.


Witnessing the theft, Mustakur Rahman, a bystander from the market, pursued the thieves in his Maruti Swift Dzire car.


The thieves fled towards Sivasagar town with the stolen bike.


Upon reaching the Japisajia area, they fired shots at Rahman's car as he continued his chase.


Fortunately, Mustakur managed to avoid injury by taking cover inside his vehicle.


No casualties were reported in the incident. However, this alarming incident on the eve of Republic Day has raised serious concerns among the public regarding security measures in the region.
