Digital Desk: Amidst the sweltering heat gripping the entire region, the Elementary Education Department of Assam's Kamrup Metropolitan District has issued a directive mandating schools to sound the water bell three times daily and conduct the morning assembly indoors. This proactive measure aims to ensure that all students remain adequately hydrated amidst the prevailing hot weather conditions.

Additionally, schools have been instructed to relocate the morning assembly indoors, either within the classroom or on the school veranda, rather than in outdoor spaces or fields. The directive, communicated by the Inspector of Schools, Kamrup Metro, emphasizes the importance of hydration in mitigating potential health issues such as sweating and headaches arising from the ongoing heatwave.

The order issued by the Inspector of School, Kamrup Metro to the head master of all schools read, “In inviting a reference to the subject cited above as we are aware that from last week excessive heat wave is heating us. As a result, sweating, headache and other health issues may attack the students. As such in order to avoid any untoward incident among students, Drinking sufficient water is inevitable.”

Conversely, in response to escalating temperatures, both Nagaon and Lakhimpur districts have implemented adjusted teaching schedules to prioritize the safety and comfort of students and educators. In Nagaon district, effective May 23, classes will commence at 8:00 a.m., with varying session timings for different school levels. Similarly, in Lakhimpur District, classes will start at 7:30 a.m., with staggered session durations for different school tiers. These modifications apply to all private educational institutions within the respective districts.
