Emergency, starring Kangana Ranaut, is based on the 1975-1977 emergency declared by then-Prime Minister Indira Gandhi...

Digital Desk: Previously, in a letter to the Lok Sabha Secretariat, the Bollywood actress requested authorization to shoot the film based on the Emergency within the Parliament premises.

A source revealed PTI that normally, private entities are not granted permission to shoot or do videography inside the Parliament premises. It is a different story if it is done for official or government work.

They went on to say that only the state broadcasters Doordarshan and Sansad TV are permitted to film programmes or events inside Parliament. There is no precedent of a private party being granted permission to shoot inside Parliament for private gain.

Kangana began filming for the final schedule of the film in Mumbai a few days ago. Kangana has been sharing its event updates through her verified social media handle since its inception.

Kangana had shared a post in September about her preparation for the role of former Indian politician Indira Gandhi. "In such a blank beat, you wonder where you went wrong..... You dissolve into the character and discover that nothing of yourself remains. You look at your own pictures as if they are strangers and wonder if you will ever be the same..... The truth is that you will never be the same person again. "Once a character happens to you, it's like a scar on the soul," an excerpt from her caption read.

Kangana is not only the lead in the film, but she is also the director and producer. The release date for Emergency has yet to be confirmed.
