In his most recent interview, Karan discussed past relationships and revealed that his ex-lover is still very much a part of his family.
According to Karan Johar, one-sided love in his personal life became the inspiration for his film Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, starring Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma.
Reddit user spotted this and asked, "Who is this ex-lover of Karan who is now his family?" Internet users assumed Karan was referring to renowned fashion designer Manish Malhotra. One of them wrote, "Manish Malhotra most likely" and another added, "It's Manish Malhotra, they went on for many years."
Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, a romantic drama starring Ranveer Singh and Alia Bhatt that was released in theatres in July of this year and became a hit grossing more than Rs 300 crore at the global box office, served as Karan's directing debut after a seven-year break.
