Amritpal Singh escaped the police net in Jalandhar on March 18 by switching vehicles and changing his appearance. He was later seen on CCTV footage in Haryana and Delhi.

Digital Desk: Khalistani separatist Amritpal Singh, who escaped arrest on Tuesday, has returned to Punjab and plans to surrender at the Golden Temple.

Amritpal Singh, the chief of Waris Punjab De, was said to be on his way to Amritsar via Hoshiarpur yesterday when the Punjab Police were alerted to his presence. He escaped late at night via a checkpoint.

Amritsar is on high alert because Amritpal Singh, who has evaded arrest for over ten days, is expected to surrender soon. Police have been stationed near the Golden Temple and the Akal Takht.

CHASE OF HOSHIARPUR

On Tuesday, the Punjab Police launched a massive search operation in a village in Hoshiarpur and many surrounding areas after receiving information that Amritpal Singh and his associates could be hiding there.

Amritpal Singh and his associates fled when the police closed in on them near a Gurdwara in Marnaian village. A cordon and search operation was launched late at night in and around the village, with checkpoints and barricades set up on the roads, but the Khalistani separatist escaped the dragnet.

Amritpal Singh has been untraceable since a police crackdown on him and members of his pro-Khalistan Waris Punjab De outfit on March 18, three weeks after he and his supporters stormed the Ajnala police station near Amritsar to secure the release of his aide.

On March 18, Amritpal Singh escaped the police net in Jalandhar by switching vehicles and changing his appearance. He has later seen on Haryana and Delhi CCTV footage.

Amritpal Singh and his aide Papalpreet Singh were seen walking on Delhi streets wearing sunglasses and a face mask in the most recent video. The Punjab Police Department had no official comment on the newly updated footage.
