Digital Desk: Congress president Mallikarjun Kharge formed a 47-member Steering Committee, which would function in place of the Congress Working Committee (CWC).

The majority of the members of the previous CWC were kept on the committee, which was announced just hours after Kharge was elected as the new party Congress president.

Rahul Gandhi, Sonia Gandhi, and former prime minister Manmohan Singh have all been chosen as members of the new committee.

The new panel also includes Priyanka Gandhi, AK Antony, Ambika Soni, Anand Sharma, KC Venugopal, and Randeep Surjewala.

However, Shashi Tharoor, who contested against Kharge in the just-ended Congress president's election, is not on the list.

According to reports, all CWC members and party office bearers handed their resignations to the new party chief in order for him to form his own team.

"As per Article XV (b) of the Constitution of the Indian National Congress, the Congress president has constituted the Steering Committee which would function in place of the Congress Working Committee," AICC general secretary (organization), KC Venugopal said in a statement. order.
