TV star Kim Kardashian filed for a divorce a year ago with Kanye West, stating irreconcilable differences.

Digital Desk: After nearly eight years of marriage, a Los Angeles judge granted reality TV star Kim Kardashian's plea to be declared legally single from rapper Kanye West. West, who has officially changed his name to Ye, and the businesswoman and star of "Keeping Up with the Kardashians" filed for divorce a year ago, citing irreconcilable differences. The couple's four children range from two to eight years old. West, 44, had openly protested the divorce and urged his wife to return to their marriage. He chastised her parenting and her current connection with "Saturday Night Live" actor Pete Davidson in recent Instagram posts-old. Kardashian's plea to end the marriage through a bifurcation procedure, which allows for a change in marital status while other issues are resolved, was approved by Los Angeles Superior Court Judge Steve Cochran. In a written judgement given following a public hearing, the judge wrote, "The Court grants termination of the marital status." West's spokesperson did not respond to a request for comment. West, 41, and Kardashian, 41, married in May 2014, making them one of Hollywood's most talked-about celebrity couples, dubbed "Kimye." The couple's relationship was strained in 2020, when West, who suffers from bipolar disorder, waged an unsuccessful campaign for president of the United States under his self-styled Birthday Party, distinguished by erratic outbursts. With the 21-time Grammy winner spending most of his time at his ranch in Wyoming and Kardashian living in their Calabasas, California, mansion outside of Los Angeles, the couple drifted further apart. Kardashian sent a statement pleading for empathy for West's mental health issues. The marriage was West's first and Kardashian's third, following brief relationships with basketball star Kris Humphries and music producer Damon Thomas.
