To mark the special day, women staff will serve as station controllers in ten key Metro stations, Kochi Metro Rail said. 

Digital Desk: Kerala’s Kochi Metro Rail offers unlimited free rides to all female travellers to commemorate International Womens Day on Tuesday (March 8). “On March 8, International Women’s Day, women can travel on the Kochi Metro for free. Various events will be held at various stations as part of the Womens Day celebrations,” the Kochi Metro Railway said in a statement. Not only that, but to commemorate the special day, women staff will serve as station controllers in ten key Metro stations, according to Kochi Metro Railway authorities. On March 8, International Women’s Day, women can travel on the Kochi Metro for free. The Kochi Metro Rail took to Twitter and wrote, “Unlimited free ride from any station to any station on Kochi Metro for women on Women’s Day. As part of the Women’s Day celebrations, various events will be organized at various stations.” According to sources, several competitions and events would be held at several Kochi Metro stations as part of the Women’s Day celebrations. Every year on March 8, International Women’s Day is celebrated. On March 9, 1911, International Women’s Day started in Austria, Denmark, Germany, and Switzerland. 64 years later, in 1975, the United Nations declared to celebrate the entire year as ‘International Women’s Year,’ emphasizing women’s social, economic, cultural, historical, and political accomplishments.
