Ghosh has been interrogated regarding the renovation of rooms adjacent to the seminar hall where the body was found...

Digital Desk: A Kolkata court granted the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) permission on Thursday to conduct a lie-detection test on Sandip Ghosh, the former principal of RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, and four others involved in the alleged rape and murder of a trainee doctor earlier this month.

The CBI, which took over the case from Kolkata Police following a Calcutta High Court directive, had requested the polygraph test due to inconsistencies in Ghosh's responses during questioning.

The case centers on the death of a postgraduate trainee doctor, whose body, marked by severe injuries, was discovered in a seminar hall at the hospital on August 9. The grim discovery has sparked widespread protests, particularly within the medical community.

The CBI's investigation has included questioning Ghosh about his actions upon learning of the doctor’s death and the delay in allowing her parents to view the body. Additionally, Ghosh has been interrogated regarding the renovation of rooms adjacent to the seminar hall where the body was found, which occurred shortly after the incident.

The CBI has already received court approval to conduct a polygraph test on Sanjay Roy, a civic volunteer arrested in connection with the case. The federal agency’s assumption of the probe underscores the seriousness with which authorities are treating this high-profile case.
