Digital Desk: Lakshya Sen advanced to the men's singles quarterfinals of the Denmark Open Super 750 badminton competition in Odense after defeating senior compatriot HS Prannoy in straight games. Sen, a bronze medalist at the 2021 World Championships, defeated world number 13 Prannoy 21-9 21-18 in 39 minutes to go to the round of 16 against Japan's Kodai Naraoka. The two had a 2-2 head-to-head record in four matches prior to Thursday's match, but the younger Sen proved to be the better player on the day, making a raucous start to put Prannoy on the back foot.

8th in the world,  Sen jumped out to a 5-1 lead early on, expanding it to 11-3 by halftime. As Prannoy's game disintegrated, he kept moving ahead.

In the second game, Prannoy performed better, keeping his opponent breathing down his neck with 5-4 and 11-10 leads. Things remained the same after the break, however, Sen broke off at 17-17 to end Prannoy's run.
