Digital Desk: Tuesday saw top Indian shuttler Lakshya Sen lose in straight games to Hong Kong's Ng Ka Long Angus in the men's singles match at the Hylo Open badminton tournament in Saarbrucken, Germany. The world championship bronze medalist and Commonwealth Games champion Sen, 21, lost the match in the first round, which lasted barely 27 minutes, 12-21 5-21. The seventh-seeded Indian put on a bad performance because his opponent outplayed him. Sen had trouble the entire game.

Sen fell behind after the score was tied at 2-2 in the opening game, and Angus quickly pulled ahead of the Indian to take the lead at 1-0.

Sen's performance in the second game was significantly worse as he let Angus score nine straight points at one point to win the game.

In the first round of the mixed doubles, the Chinese team of Feng Yan Zhe and Huang Dong Ping defeated the Indian team of Ishaan Bhatnagar and Tanisha Crasto 13-21, 12-21.

In addition to Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty, who won the French Open, other Indians competing in the Super 300 competition include Kidambi Srikanth, Sameer Verma, H. S. Prannoy, Saina Nehwal, Malvika Bansod, and Sameer Verma.
