Digital Desk: The health condition of RJD chief Lalu Prasad Yadav, who is receiving treatment at the Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS) in Ranchi, is serious but stable, the doctor said. “His (Lalu Prasad’s) blood sugar and blood pressure are fluctuating. The sugar level was recorded at 70 mg/dl in the morning but shot up to 240 mg/dl by the afternoon. His systolic blood pressure is fluctuating between 130 and 160.” said the RIMS doctor who is treating Lalu Prasad Yadav. According to the doctor, Lalu Prasad Yadav suffers from multiple diseases, including renal disease. He is also a patient of stage 4 kidney disease. “His kidney is only working at 20% capacity. His health is being carefully monitored.” said the doctor. After his conviction in the Rs 139.35 crore Doranda treasury embezzlement case, the fifth and final case against him in the multi-crore fodder scam, the 73-year-old former Bihar chief minister was lodged in the Birsa Munda Central Jail and then shifted to the state-run RIMS on health grounds. In connection with the Doranda treasury fodder scam, a special CBI court jailed Yadav to five years in prison and fined him Rs 60 lakh on Monday. Prasad has been in prison since December 2017 and has spent the majority of his time there. He was hospitalized at the All India Institute of Medical Sciences in New Delhi in January 2021 after his health deteriorated. Meanwhile, Lalu Prasad Yadav’s lawyer stated that they would file an appeal against the ruling in the High Court as the RJD chief has already served 36 months behind bars. In four previous fodder fraud cases, the RJD chief had been sentenced to 14 years in prison. The final case concerned withdrawals of Rs 139.35 crore from the Doranda treasury while he was the chief minister of undivided Bihar.
