Digital Desk: In a significant breakthrough, the Crime Branch has apprehended another advocate, identified as Baharul Islam Khan, in connection with a widespread land acquisition scam. This arrest comes just two days after the apprehension of advocate Md Safiur Rahman for his involvement in a similar illicit land deal.
Sources reveal that Khan played a pivotal role in fabricating forged documents related to a piece of land situated in Satgaon, Guwahati. Exploiting the absence of the landowner, who was away on business in Jorhat district, Khan and his accomplices executed the fraudulent sale without the owner's knowledge.
The arrest took place on Thursday night, underscoring the swift action taken by the Crime Branch. Rahman, the advocate arrested earlier in the week, is said to have participated in the preparation of counterfeit land documents.
The Crime Branch's ongoing operations aim to dismantle a large-scale land scam network in Guwahati, with several arrests, including government employees, land brokers, and alleged kingpins of the land mafia. The authorities are committed to bringing all perpetrators to justice and ensuring the protection of property rights for the citizens of Guwahati.
