The plea of the accused, Rumi Goswami, to extend her pre-arrest bail was denied by the Gauhati HC...

Digital Desk: The Pan Bazaar Police arrested the former Director of the Directorate of Library Services, Assam, on Wednesday in connection with the major library scandal.

The Gauhati High Court denied accused Rumi Goswami's plea to extend her pre-arrest bail.

It should be noted that Rumi Goswami's husband, Pranab Goswami, was detained on November 26th. Rumi had gone into hiding since her detention.

The two are accused of stealing funds of Rs 46 lakhs from the Directorate of Library Services.

An FIR was submitted by the director of Library Services based on which Pranab Goswami was arrested previously.

Rumi Goswami had applied to the Gauhati High Court for pre-arrest bail after being arrested in connection with Pan Bazaar Police Station case no. 263/2022, which was registered for offences punishable under Sections 406/40 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The issue is currently being investigated extensively.
