Argentina National Football Team has expressed willingness to play two friendly matches in Kerala in October 2025.
Sports Minister of Kerala, V. Abdurahiman announced on Facebook, stating that “ The Champion team fully aware of the affection and backing they enjoy from Kerala, enthusiastically accepted our invitation”.
According to the Sports Minister, the decision was finalized during an online meeting with officials from the Argentina Football Association (AFA). Initially, AFA officials confirmed the plan to visit Kerala in October 2025 to play friendly matches in the state.
However, Argentina was scheduled to play a friendly match against India in June 2024 Kerala but the visit had to be called off at the All India Football Federation (AIFF)cited financial constraints as the primary reason and rescheduled to October 2025.
Sports Minister also confirmed that AFA will collaborate with the Kerala Football Association and plans to provide football training to 5000 students in the state.
