Digital Desk: Former Delhi deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia's judicial custody in the Enforcement Directorate case of excise policy matter was extended by Rouse Avenue Court on Monday till May 23. This comes after the ED told the court on Saturday that Sisodia's activities as Excise Minister resulted in criminal proceeds of Rs 622 crore in the excise policy case, according to news agency ANI.
On May 10, the court set the supplementary chargesheet brought against Manish Sisodia for consideration. The court further asked the ED to file a soft copy of the supplemental chargesheet on a CD/DVD/Pen drive by May 8.
For the first time, the ED filed a 2,000-page chargesheet against the jailed AAP leader on Thursday.
The ED arrested Sisodia in this case from Tihar Jail on March 9. He was arrested first by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), which is also investigating the case.
The ED submitted the fourth additional chargesheet and overall fifth prosecution complaint in the matter before an appointed special Prevention of Money Laundering Act (PMLA) court in Delhi, PTI reported.
The agency has labelled Sisodia a "key conspirator" in this investigation. In earlier chargesheets, it was claimed that the alleged liquor policy scam was the result of a "conspiracy" by a number of prominent AAP figures, as well as the so-called "South Group," which included BRS leader K Kavitha, YSR Congress MP Magunta Srinivasulu Reddy, and others, who "used" proxies and dummies to cover up their involvement.
The former deputy chief minister of Delhi has also been accused of destroying evidence by crushing his cell phones and changing SIM cards many times.
