A total of 33 Opposition members were suspended from Lok Sabha on Monday for disrupting the proceedings of the House...

Digital Desk: In a tumultuous session at the Lok Sabha on Monday, 33 opposition Members of Parliament (MPs) faced suspension for their role in disrupting proceedings, according to PTI reports. Among the suspended members are notable figures like Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury from Congress, DMK's T R Baalu and Dayanidhi Maran, and TMC's Saugata Roy.

While 30 MPs received suspensions for the remainder of the Winter Session, three - K Jayakumar, Vijay Vasanth, and Abdul Khaleque - face pending suspensions pending the report of the Privileges Committee after they climbed onto the Speaker's podium to chant slogans.

The motion for their suspension was moved by Parliamentary Affairs Minister Pralhad Joshi, which was subsequently adopted by a voice vote after Joshi himself was named by the chair.

Consequently, the Lower House was adjourned for the day following these unprecedented disruptions.
